Privacy Policy

Summary
Vespira is a travel discovery app. We designed it to need as little of your
data as possible. We do not require an account, and we do not sell personal data.
What we store on your device
- Your saved places, visited marks, chosen language and destination —
kept in your browser's local storage, on your device.
- These are not uploaded to us and are cleared if you clear site data.
What our server processes
- Place data & photos: when you open a place or browse a category, our
server requests details, photos and reviews from the Google Places API and
relays them to your device. Google's handling is governed by the
Google Privacy Policy.
- Location: if you tap “Use my location”, your device shares coordinates
with the app to sort places by distance. It is used in the moment and not stored.
- Analytics: we count anonymous, aggregate events (e.g. “a place was
opened”) to improve recommendations. No identifiers, no personal data.
- Session patterns: to understand how travellers browse (e.g. “opened
the See tab, then viewed two places”), the app groups the events of a single
visit under a random session number. This number exists only in your
browser's memory, is never stored on your device, is not linked to any
account, IP address or device, and cannot connect two separate visits.
These session records are deleted from our server after 90 days.
- On-device flags: the app saves a few small values in your browser's
local storage — the date of your first visit, which explorer quests you have
completed, and whether you dismissed a prompt. These stay on your device and
are never sent to us. They let the app count anonymous, aggregate
events such as “a returning visitor opened the app” or “a device opened the
app for the first time” without sending any identifier, so we still cannot
link two visits to the same person. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Permissions
Location is optional and only requested when you tap the location button.
Notifications, if enabled in a future version, are used only for trip-relevant
alerts and can be turned off at any time.
Children
Vespira is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in
your country) and does not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights (GDPR/CCPA)
Because we don't hold an account or personal profile for you, most data lives on
your device and you control it directly. For any request regarding data we may
process, contact us below.
Image credits
Place photos in Vespira come from openly licensed sources — primarily
Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA,
CC BY, CC0 and public-domain works). We store the author and license of
every image and display them on the place page, under the photo. If you
are a rights holder and believe an image is used incorrectly, contact us
below and we will review it promptly.
